Connect Expedia via Content API in Channel PRO

The Expedia Content API connection allows Avantio clients to connect their Expedia properties through Channel PRO and synchronize key information such as rates, availability, and property content.

Written by Vanessa Altuve

This connection requires an onboarding process between Expedia, the Property Manager, and Avantio. Follow the steps below to prepare the required information and request the activation of the Expedia portal in Channel PRO.

Important: The Content API connection is different from the Expedia Single Rate connection. Both connections are now managed through Channel PRO, so make sure you follow the instructions for the connection type you want to enable.

Before you start

Make sure you have the following information available:

  • A signed Expedia group contract.

  • The required company and legal information.

  • The Property Manager Code (PMC) provided by Expedia.

  • The business model: Expedia Collect, Hotel Collect, or both.

  • The applicable VAT percentage.

  • The cancellation policy for the properties.

  • Whether Package Rates will be used: Yes/No.

Expedia contract requirement: Expedia may require a minimum number of units to issue a group contract. Confirm the applicable requirements directly with Expedia during the contracting process.

Temporary requirement: Before connecting Expedia in Channel PRO, contact the Customer Experience team to request the activation of the Connect button. The button is currently disabled by default.

How to enable Expedia Content API in Channel PRO

1. Sign the Expedia group agreement

Complete the contracting process with Expedia and submit the signed agreement as instructed by Expedia.

You may need to provide:

  • Legal entity name and address

  • VAT number

  • Name and email address of the person signing the contract

  • Preferred payment method: Expedia Virtual Card or Bank Transfer

2. Complete the Expedia API Partner Form

Complete the API Partner Form provided by Expedia (attached at the bottom of this article) with the required company and property information.

Send the form via email to: [email protected].

3. Wait for Expedia to complete the onboarding

Expedia will create the financial profile for the Property Manager account and provide the Property Manager Code (PMC).

The PMC is required to continue with the Avantio onboarding process.

Expedia will also initiate the API onboarding process and provide the relevant configuration information.

4. Contact Avantio Customer Experience

Once the required Expedia information is available, contact Avantio's Customer Experience team to request the activation of the Expedia Content API connection in Channel PRO.

Provide the following information:

  • Property Manager Code (PMC): provided by Expedia

  • Business Model: Expedia Collect, Hotel Collect, or both

  • VAT percentage: applicable to reservations

  • Cancellation Policy: applicable to the properties

  • Package Rates: Yes/No

Customer Experience will coordinate the request internally so that the Expedia portal can be enabled in Channel PRO.

5. Activate your Expedia properties

Once the Expedia connection has been enabled in Channel PRO, the Property Manager can proceed with the property activation process.

Follow the instructions in Activate and deactivate properties on Expedia Content API connection to complete the activation.

6. Review the Expedia configuration

Before completing the setup, review the Expedia configuration and make sure that the information provided to Expedia and Avantio is correct.

For more information about the terminology and configuration used for Expedia, see Understand key concepts when working with Expedia.
