Important: This article applies only to Expedia Single Rate connections. Activation steps and synchronization behavior may differ for the Expedia Content API connection.

Before you start

Before activating a property, make sure you have:

  • An active contract with Expedia. You can check your contract information in Expedia Partner Central.

  • The property already created manually in Expedia. Property content is not imported from Avantio.

  • Property information in Expedia that matches the information configured in your Avantio VRMS, such as capacity and minimum stay.

  • A completed Connectivity Enrollment Form sent to Expedia.

  • The Hotel ID for each property you want to activate.

Activate a property in Expedia via the Single Rate connection

Before activating a property in Avantio, you must first configure AVANTIO BASIC as the connectivity provider in the property's Expedia extranet.

Important: Selecting the correct connectivity provider in Expedia is essential because it determines the type of connection used for the property.

For the Expedia Single Rate connection, you must select AVANTIO BASIC.

Do not select AVANTIO PRO for a Single Rate connection. AVANTIO PRO is used for the Expedia Content API connection.

Step 1. Configure Avantio as the connectivity provider in Expedia

Before starting the activation in Avantio, log in to the property's Expedia Partner Central account and access the property's connectivity settings.

Select AVANTIO BASIC as the connectivity provider.

You may also see AVANTIO PRO as an available option. Make sure you select the correct provider:

Do not select AVANTIO PRO if you are setting up an Expedia Single Rate connection. Selecting the wrong provider will configure the property for a different type of connectivity and the Single Rate activation in Avantio will not be configured correctly.

Once AVANTIO BASIC has been selected in Expedia, continue with the activation in Avantio.

Step 2. Open the Expedia activation screen in Avantio

  1. Log in to your VRMS account.

  2. Go to Channel PRO from the top navigation menu.

  3. In the left-hand menu, select Activation of Accommodations.

  4. Select Expedia from the portal dropdown.

  5. Find the property you want to activate.

  6. Turn on the activation/deactivation switch on the right.

  7. Select the activation option that matches your situation

Which type should I select?

  • Associate with Existing Property: The property already exists in Expedia and Avantio.

  • Link from Expedia: The property exists in Expedia but not in Avantio.

Step 3. Select the activation type and property

In the activation window, select the appropriate option under Type.

1. Associate with existing property

Select Associate with Existing Property when the Hotel ID already exists in both Expedia and Avantio.

Then complete the following fields:

  • Property: Select the corresponding Expedia property from the available options.

  • Room: Select the corresponding Room ID.

If no properties or rooms are available to select, check that the required Expedia property and room information is available before proceeding.

2. Link from Expedia

Select Link from Expedia only when the Hotel ID exists in Expedia but the property does not yet exist in Avantio.

Then complete the following fields:

  • Property ID: Enter the Expedia Hotel ID.

  • Room: Select the corresponding Room ID.

Step 4. Select the Rate Plan ID

Within the same activation window, select the corresponding Rate Plan ID from the dropdown menu.

The available Rate Plan IDs are retrieved from Expedia.

Important: A Rate Plan ID will only appear in the dropdown if the corresponding rate plan is already active in Expedia.

If the Rate Plan ID you need is not displayed:

  1. Check the rate plan in the property's Expedia extranet.

  2. Make sure the rate plan has been created and is active.

  3. Return to the activation window in Avantio and check the dropdown again.

Make sure you select the Rate Plan ID that corresponds to the rate plan you want to connect.

Step 5. Save the activation

Once you have completed the activation window:

  1. Review the selected Type, Property/Establishment ID, Room, and Rate Plan ID.

  2. Click Accept.

The property is now configured for the Expedia Single Rate connection.

Deactivate a property

Deactivating a property in Channel PRO stops its synchronization with Expedia.

To deactivate a property:

  1. Go to Channel PRO in Avantio.

  2. Click on Activation of Accommodations.

  3. Find the accommodation you want to activate in the list of properties available in Avantio (VRMS).

  4. Select the accommodation you want to deactivate and click on the activation/deactivation button.

  5. Click Save to confirm the deactivation.

Important: Deactivating a property in Avantio does not close or deactivate the property on Expedia. The property may remain open and bookable on Expedia.

If you need the property to be closed on Expedia, you must contact Expedia directly and request the closure of the establishment.
