From Channel PRO, Property Managers can activate or deactivate properties connected to Expedia PRO via the Content API. This process allows you to create new establishments in Expedia or link existing properties, as well as correctly manage deactivation to avoid unwanted bookings.
Note: This process applies to Expedia PRO (Content API) and is different from activation via the single rate connection in Channel v1.0.
Step-by-Step: Activate Properties on Expedia
To activate a property:
Log in to your VRMS account.
Access Channel PRO from the top navigation menu.
In the left-hand menu, click Accommodation Activation.
Select Expedia from the portal dropdown menu.
Locate your property in the activation list.
On the far right, click the activation/deactivation switch to start synchronization with the portal.
A window will appear with the following activation options:
New Property: Use this option when the property does not yet exist in Expedia. A new Hotel ID will be automatically generated in Expedia’s Extranet.
Property: enter the name to appear in Expedia, it must contain between 1 and 40 characters.
Associate with Existing Property: Use this option when the Hotel ID already exists in Expedia and in Avantio. Complete the following fields:
Property: select the existing Expedia Hotel ID.
Room:
Select the room ID if it already exists.
Select a non-numbered room name if the room does not exist.
Link from Expedia: Use this option only when the Hotel ID exists in Expedia but not in Avantio. Complete the following:
Establishment ID: enter the Expedia Hotel ID.
Room: select the corresponding room ID.
Click Accept to complete the activation process.
Important!
When creating a new property, if another property already exists at the same physical location (even if managed by another property manager), Expedia will detect it and a new establishment will not be created.
Step-by-Step: Deactivate Properties
To deactivate a property:
In the Accommodation Activation section, locate the property you want to disconnect.
Switch off the activation/deactivation button on the far right.
Important!
When a property is deactivated in Channel PRO, synchronization stops, but the property remains open and bookable in Expedia. You must contact Expedia to request the closure of the property on their platform.
Key Points
This process applies to Expedia PRO (Content API connection).
Activation of a property can create a new establishment or link an existing one.
Deactivation in Avantio does not automatically close the property in Expedia.
Always validate names, IDs, and room mappings to avoid duplicates or mapping errors.
