What is the Currency Converter

The Currency Converter is a module that addresses the limitation of some portals that do not accept the currency your agency operates in. With it, you can:

  • Select the currency that will be displayed on each portal.

  • Keep your prices consistent and automatically updated according to the exchange rate.

  • View bookings in your agency's currency, even if the tourist booked in another currency.

Helpful tip: Before activating the module, check the currencies accepted by the portals you work with.

How to get started

To activate the Currency Converter, follow these steps:

  1. Identify the portals you want to connect to and the currencies they accept.

  2. Contact the Customer Experience team to inform them of your intention to activate the module and resolve any possible exceptions.

  3. RRead and sign the attached document at the end of this article, and send it by email to [email protected].

  4. Connect to our Channel Manager and start using the Currency Converter.

Attention to detail: Ensure the portal is compatible before setting up the currency.

Configuration in the Channel Manager

Within the configuration section of each compatible portal, you can choose the publication currency:

  • The system only allows currency configuration if it is not compatible with the portal's currency.

  • You can select different currencies for different portals (for example, USD on one portal and EUR on another).

  • The connection is periodically updated through an external provider to ensure reliable exchange rates.

Common errors: Changing the currency in an active connection without notifying the portal can cause conflicts; the responsibility lies with the agency.

Compatible portals

Currently, the Currency Converter works with:

  • VRBO

  • Booking.com (see specifics below)

  • MagicStay

  • e-domizil

  • Holidu

  • HomeToGo

  • Travelfactory

  • Iberimo

  • Hispanoa

  • TravelStaytion

Specifics of Booking.com

Booking.com may require that the listing be made in the local currency of the property:

  • If your agency operates in EUR and the property is in Poland, Booking.com will require listing in PLN.

  • In these cases, you will not be able to change the currency from the configuration; the Avantio team will adjust the necessary currency.

  • It can be applied to the portal or only to certain properties. So that all your properties are affected by the currency conversion you choose, or apply it only to specific properties according to your needs.

Helpful tip: Contact the Customer Experience team to assess how to manage properties in different countries and avoid connection blocks.

Module cost

  • The Currency Converter has an additional cost of €12/month.

  • It is billed quarterly once activated by the Avantio team.
