Turn failed booking attempts into real sales opportunities

Sometimes, a tourist almost completes the entire booking process but fails to finalize the payment. Thanks to the Cart Abandonment status tracking and the Cart Recovery tool, you can recover those unfinished bookings and turn them into effective sales.

What the "Cart Abandonment" status means

When a tourist tries to make a booking on your web, but the payment isn't completed, the system records that attempt with the status "Cart Abandonment".

  • This status does not block the calendar, as the booking is never confirmed.

  • In the bookings list, this status is not shown by default; you must select it manually to view all abandonments.

  • Since it is neither a formal booking nor a request, its status cannot be changed.

  • If the tourist eventually decides to book, you will need to create a new booking.

Automatic recovery of abandoned carts

To help you rescue lost opportunities, Avantio includes the Cart Recovery tool.

How it works

  1. The system detects the registered abandoned carts.

  2. After a configurable period (12, 24, or 48 hours), it automatically sends a recovery email to the tourist.

  3. This email includes a "Continue Booking" button, which redirects the traveler to the checkout form with their details already pre-filled.

  4. The tourist only needs one click to complete the booking.

Attention to details

The recovery email is only sent if there is no already confirmed booking with the same details.

How to activate Cart Recovery

  1. Go to WEB → Web tools.

  2. Click the "Edit" button and then go to the "Cart Recovery" section. Activate this option by clicking the on/off switch

    .

  3. Set the waiting time before the email is sent (12, 24, or 48 hours).

Attention to details

This feature is only available for web version 7 and with the Avantio Payments gateway.

Helpful tip

  • Always activate automatic recovery: it's a tool that increases your conversions without additional effort.

  • Adjust the sending time according to your strategy: 12 hours works well with determined customers; 48 hours, with those who need more time.

Before working with this status, remember the following:

  • It does not block dates on the calendar.

  • It does not automatically convert into a booking. If the tourist confirms, you will need to create a new one.

  • Activate automatic recovery to increase conversion chances.

  • Set the email sending time according to your business strategy.

As a next step, we invite you to activate the Cart Recovery feature on your web and set the sending times. Every failed attempt can be transformed into a confirmed booking, increasing your revenue without adding workload.
