The protocol changes brought about during COVID-19 created new demands in the tourism sector. To meet these, Avantio introduced special Clean & Safe extras, which allow you to transparently communicate the cleaning and disinfection measures you apply in your accommodations. With this feature, you not only comply with health regulations but also enhance the trust and credibility of your guests.
What are the Clean & Safe extras?
They are three services automatically added to all VRMS accounts:
Cleaning and Disinfection
Certified Disinfection
Disinfection
These extras are managed like any other, but they include a new feature: the “Disinfection Protocol” section, where you can choose from preloaded protocols or add one from your agency.
How to Configure the Clean & Safe Extras
Go to VRMS → Accommodations → Short-term Rentals → Extras.
Select the cleaning or disinfection extra you wish to activate.
In the “Disinfection Protocol” field, choose one of the available options:
Extract of VRMA guideline (English only)
Professional disinfection guide with fogging machine (multilingual)
Standard cleaning guide (multilingual)
Custom: add your own links, such as a blog, a page on your web, or a document in Drive or Dropbox
Click “Save” to apply the changes.
Helpful Tip
Use the “View” option to preview the protocol and check if it meets your needs.
What the Tourist Will See
On your website, the extras will appear as included in the price or optional, depending on the chosen configuration.
By clicking on the “i” for information, a pop-up window will display the service details and a link for more information.
If you have uploaded a custom protocol, the link will direct to the document or external page you specified.
Attention to Detail
The image that appears on the information page can be customized. If you wish to change it, request the modification through a ticket at support.avantio.com.
Relation with the Final Cleaning Extra
If you activate Cleaning and Disinfection, this extra will replace the classic “Final Cleaning”. They cannot be active at the same time.
Alternatively, you can keep your usual “Final Cleaning” and add Disinfection or Certified Disinfection separately.
Synchronization with Portals
Booking.com
With full API connection: the message “In response to Coronavirus (COVID-19), additional safety and sanitation measures are currently in effect at this property.” will appear automatically.
With partial API connection: you will need to configure it manually in the Booking extranet.
Vrbo / HomeAway
If you activate one of the Clean & Safe extras as mandatory and with a price, it will be displayed in the “Cleaning Practices” section.
Airbnb
With full connection, if you have configured the “Cleaning and Disinfection” extra, the notice will appear twice in the description:
In response to Coronavirus (COVID-19), this accommodation has enhanced its cleaning and disinfection measures to ensure the safety of our customers.
