Why Fields Stop Syncing and How It Works

If a field is edited directly in Airbnb instead of via Avantio, Airbnb locks it to prevent the information from being overwritten by the Property Management System.

Once locked, any updates sent from Avantio to that field are ignored, and the content configured in Airbnb remains unchanged.

Example:

If you update the listing description on Airbnb, guests will see that version, and the one from Avantio will not sync.

Only certain content fields can be locked in Airbnb. The following fields are eligible for locking:

Content

  • Listing description

  • Photos

  • Amenities

  • House rules

Property Details

  • Property & Listing type

Location

  • Address (street, city, zip code, country)

  • Location coordinates

  • Exact location visibility

Guest Information

  • Check-in & Check-out instructions

  • Listing directions


Impact on Avantio

Once a field is locked:

  • Avantio cannot update or overwrite that field.

  • Changes made in Avantio will not sync to Airbnb.

  • The field can only be managed directly in Airbnb until it is unlocked.


How to Unlock Fields on Airbnb

To allow Avantio to update fields that were previously locked in Airbnb, follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to your Airbnb account.

  2. Go to Listings and select the listing you want to update.

  3. In the Listing editor, click Settings.

  4. Under Edit preferences, click Property management software.

  5. Click Switch to manage from Avantio to allow updates via the connected software.


How to trigger content synchronization

After completing the steps above to unlock a field in Airbnb:

  1. Go back to Avantio.

  2. Update the corresponding field (for example, the listing description).

  3. Save the changes.


Important notes

  • Fields never edited in Airbnb will continue syncing normally.

  • Unsupported fields in Avantio cannot be unlocked.

  • You may intentionally keep certain fields locked to manage them directly in Airbnb.
