Before activating your connection to Vrbo, your properties must meet the mandatory requirements and recommended best practices. This document outlines the minimum conditions required to avoid errors, connection issues, and publishing delays.

Written by Lisa

All properties that will be connected to VRBO must meet the following requirements:

  • Property title: minimum 20 characters and maximum 80 characters.

  • Description: minimum 400 characters and must be customized. At least one custom description must be available in the language of the connected Vrbo account (for example, VRBO.com → custom description in English).

  • Photos: each property must include at least 6 photos, with a maximum of 50 images.

  • Image quality:

    • Minimum recommended resolution: 1920 × 1080 pixels (Full HD).

    • Vrbo recommended resolution: 3840 × 2160 pixels (4K/UHD).

    • Maximum image size: 20 MB.

  • Property layout: the property must include at least one bedroom and one bathroom.

  • Location: the full address, latitude, and longitude are required.

  • Availability and rates: these must be up to date before activation.

  • Property size: the property size in square meters (m²) must be specified.

  • Tourist registration number: all properties must have a tourist registration number configured.

  • Payment method: a valid payment method must be configured (bank transfer or credit card payment gateway).

📸 Image requirements

In addition to meeting the minimum number of photos, Vrbo automatically validates all property images.

Please take the following requirements into account:

  • The first image will be used as the property's main listing photo and should be the most representative image of the accommodation.

  • Photos must only show the property and its amenities.

  • It is recommended to include photos of the exterior, living room, kitchen, all bedrooms, all bathrooms, and any key amenities or facilities (pool, garden, terrace, etc.).

  • Whenever possible, add a caption to each image describing the area shown.

🚫 Images that are not allowed

Vrbo will reject images containing:

  • People.

  • Logos, watermarks, or copyright notices.

  • Text, arrows, symbols, or any graphic overlays.

  • Black-and-white or sepia photographs.

  • Dark or poorly lit images.

  • Blurry, pixelated, excessively edited, or upscaled images with noticeable quality loss.

  • Rotated images.

  • Close-up photos of flowers or plants that do not represent the property.

  • Illustrations, animations, or maps.

  • 3D renderings.

  • Hand-drawn floor plans.

  • Collages or images made up of multiple photos.

  • Images unrelated to the property.

Additional considerations

  • Duplicate images within the same property are not allowed.

  • If Vrbo detects images that are nearly identical, they may be processed but will automatically be marked as inactive.

  • It is recommended to use unique images for each property and avoid reusing the same photos across multiple listings.

Best practices

Keep the following recommendations in mind to maximize your property's visibility and performance:

  • Make sure your title is the appropriate length and is clear and attractive, as it is one of the first things travelers will see.

  • Verify that your custom description contains at least 400 characters and is available in the correct language.

  • Upload at least 6 high-quality photos showing all the main areas of the property (maximum 50 images).

  • Place the most attractive and representative image first.

  • Use bright, sharp photos that show each room as a whole, avoiding overly close-up shots.

  • Avoid including people, text, logos, or any graphic elements in your photos.

  • Add captions to your images whenever possible to help travelers identify each area of the property.

  • Make sure the address, latitude, longitude, number of bedrooms, and number of bathrooms are complete and accurate.

  • Specify the property's size in square meters (m²).

  • Add the tourist registration number where required.

  • Ensure your availability calendar and rates are up to date before publishing.

  • Configure occupancy rules, minimum stay, property type, and guest capacity.

  • Set up a valid payment method (bank transfer or credit card payment gateway).
