Learn How to Use Tags Correctly with Harmony

In Harmony, you can use tags for bookings, accommodations, owners, and/or portals.

What is a tag and what is it used for?

Tags allow you to filter different parts of the system such as accommodations, bookings, owners, customers, or portals.

You can also use tags to segment communication with your customers and owners through Harmony, for example:

If you tag an owner as “vipowner” and insert this tag in the Harmony solution, the system will only send notifications to bookings associated with accommodations from "vipowner" owners.

How can I create a new tag?

To create a new tag, you should first go to a record in one of the sections mentioned above.

For example, you can go to any owner's record and click EDIT:

Next, look for the field called Tag in the owner's record and type the name of the tag you want to create, for example "vipowner".

Since this is a new tag that doesn't exist for any owner yet, the system will show it in parentheses ("New").

When you hit enter, this new tag is created right away, and the next time you try to add this tag to any accommodation, the system will recognize it as an existing tag in the system:

Important

Keep in mind that these tag names are for internal use only; they will not be visible to customers/tourists anywhere on the portals, nor on the website or in templates.

How can I assign an existing tag to a specific accommodation?

As explained above, you can not only create/assign tags to owners, but also to portals, bookings, and/or customers.

Each section of the program mentioned above has a section to indicate tags.

Important

A record for an accommodation, portal, owner, booking, or customer can have as many tags as you want.

What is the correct way to use tags in Harmony?

If you tag an owner as “vipowner” and insert this tag in the Harmony solution, the system will only send notifications to bookings associated with accommodations from owners with the "vipowner" tag:

Important

The tag functionality in Harmony works inclusively, not exclusively.

This means that only if all the tags in the Harmony solution are met will the message event be created. If more than the configured tags are met, that's fine too, but if fewer than the configured tags are met, then it won't be created.

Why wasn't the Harmony message sent?

Sometimes it's hard to know why a Harmony message wasn't sent for a particular booking, since the Avantio system has evolved a lot over time and there are more and more configuration options.

For a Harmony event to be created automatically for a booking, the booking and its related data must meet all the requirements set in the Harmony solution.

Below you'll find a checklist you can review, as it may be that the Harmony event wasn't created for the booking due to one of the following reasons:

1. Is the Harmony solution activated? Yes.

2. Does the booking match one of the booking statuses configured for the solution? Yes.

3. Does the booking date match the solution's "from" date? Yes.

4. Is the template configured for the Harmony solution set up in the customer's language? No. In this case, the message will not be sent.

5. Do the booking, accommodation, owner, and portal associated with the booking meet all the tags configured for the Harmony solution? No. In this case, the message will not be sent.

6. Is it a booking from the Muchosol portal?

It's important to note that Harmony solutions are not compatible with bookings from the Muchosol portal; messages must be sent manually from the booking in the VRMS.

7. Is it a Cross selling booking?

It's important to note that Harmony solutions are not compatible with Cross selling bookings; messages must be sent manually from the booking in the VRMS.

If you have checked all 7 of these cases and the Harmony event still hasn't been created for the booking in question, please contact the Avantio team directly, providing the booking number and the name of the Harmony solution.
