Advantages of Managing Your VRBO Promotions from Avantio

This new option allows you to:

  • Create and manage all your promotions in one place.

  • Save time thanks to automatic synchronization with VRBO.

  • Improve your ranking, as listings with active promotions tend to stand out more in VRBO search results.

What can you do from Channel PRO?

Through Avantio, you can:

  • Create promotions

  • Edit the configuration of promotions (but not the promotion type)

  • Delete promotions (they will appear as inactive on VRBO)

Pay Attention to the Details

  • Existing promotions in your VRBO account will not be synced to Avantio nor will they be overwritten by promotions created in Avantio.

  • To ensure they display correctly on Vrbo, you must create them directly from Channel PRO.

Types of Promotions Available:

Vrbo offers four main types of promotions:

Promotion Type

Description

Early Booking

Rewards guests who book well in advance.

Last Minute

Fill your calendar by offering discounts for dates close to check-in.

Mobile-Only

Encourages bookings made from mobile devices.

Membership

Special rates for Vrbo members (Blue, Silver, Gold, or Platinum).

Promotion for New Listings – Coming soon.

How can promotions be applied?

You can apply promotional discounts in three different ways:

  • Single Discount: a fixed amount or percentage discount applied to the entire stay.

  • Discount by Day of the Week: different discounts depending on the day (for example, 10% on Mondays, 20% on Tuesdays).

  • Discount for Multiple Nights: a discount applied to a specific night of the stay (for example, 10% off the third night).

PLEASE NOTE:

Promotions are applied to the final price, which means both early booking and last minute can be set up as discounts or as promotions, and both will be sent.

Each type of promotion has its own rules:

Early Booking

  • Guests must book between 60 and 500 days before check-in.

  • Maximum discount: 75%.

Last Minute

  • Guests must book between 1 and 30 days before check-in.

  • Maximum discount: 75%.

Membership Promotion

  • You cannot apply a day-of-the-week promotion format.

  • Only percentage discounts are accepted.

  • You must apply all three types of discounts for each membership, with a minimum percentage of 10%, 11% and 12%, respectively.

  • Only promotions offering at least a 5% discount will be published.

  • A single listing can have several types of promotions set up. (Keep in mind that promotions cannot be combined. The system will automatically apply the most advantageous promotion for the guest.)

  • The way the configuration is displayed in Avantio and Vrbo may differ in how the promotion application dates are shown.
    Example: if on 01-01-2025 you set up an Early Booking promotion with 60 days in advance and indicate it should start applying from tomorrow and for the rest of the year, Avantio will show this rule as applying from 02-01-2025, while Vrbo will show it as valid from 01-03-2025, since the minimum 60 days are required for the promotion to take effect.

Where to Find Vrbo Promotions in Avantio

  1. Go to Channel Manager PRO

  2. Access Price Modifiers

  3. Click on Promotions

  4. Choose VRBO from the dropdown options

  5. Create a new promotion or edit/deactivate an existing one

You’ll also see alerts for:

  • Promotions without associated properties

  • Expired promotions

How to Create a Promotion?

When setting up a promotion, you’ll be asked to define:

  • Promotion name (internal name)

  • Promotion type (Early Booking, Last Minute, Mobile-Only, Membership)

REMEMBER:

Depending on the type of promotion you choose, the configuration view will be different.
