Activate a clear presentation that converts

When you manage several accommodations, presentation matters. It is not only about showing pretty rooms, but also about guiding your customers towards the option that best suits them. With the configuration tools, you can decide which filters to use, how results are sorted, which information to highlight and even how they are shared on social media. The result: fewer frictions for your customers and more bookings for you.

Configure search filters

Filters are key for a traveler to quickly find what they need.

  • Main filters: select the most relevant ones (for example, number of rooms, pool or sea views) and hide those that do not add value.

  • Distances: enable the option to show the distance to points of interest. Remember that you must first register this information in the accommodation page.

Helpful tip

Less is more. Prioritize clear filters and avoid overwhelming the user with too many options.

Customize search in the booking system

General search criteria

  • “Default sorting type” ascending or descending: choose the type of sorting that will be applied by default to the sorting criteria of the results.

  • New fields in the booking system search bar (not in the “Home”). In a travel search bar, the strategy to optimize it involves understanding how users search and using the relevant fields to improve the experience and increase conversions.

Configure the search bar to match your strategy

  • Search by country

  • Search by area

  • Merge areas and provinces

  • Search by province

  • Search by town

  • Search by neighborhood

  • Search by bedroom

  • Search by category

  • Specify number of accommodations by location

  • Autosuggest: the “autosuggest” search groups, in a single filter called “Destination”, the different options related to the destinations of the locations registered in your accommodations. As the user types, the system provides suggestions and results in real time, allowing for a faster and more accurate search.

Customize the search results list

  • Dynamic gallery in results: configure an image gallery in the results shown in the search results list.

  • Number of accommodations per page.

  • Default sorting (price, reference, etc.).

  • Show price per person and day, or per week.

  • Option to hide accommodations without active rates (highly recommended to avoid confusion). This option can be enabled so that accommodations that do not have rates assigned are hidden and acts as a safeguard to avoid showing an incomplete accommodation.

  • Open property pages in a new tab without losing the initial search: with this option selected, after the traveler has entered dates and sees the list of available properties, if they click on a specific property, it will open in a new tab without losing the initial search.

  • Show several thumbnail photos next to the main one.

  • Choose the visualization of the results (grid, list or map). If no option is selected, the List view will be shown by default.

  • If the filters are at the top, you can display grid-format accommodations in 3 columns (previously only 4). If you are interested in enabling this option, contact our Customer Care team.

  • Show total number of published accommodations: this setting allows you to show the total number of active accommodations on the Web. The total corresponds to the total number of active accommodations on the channel, regardless of whether the “Do not show accommodations without rates” setting is active. This field can be placed above the list, below the list or not shown.

  • Price representation in results: for VRMS accounts with a US model, you have a field that lets you choose whether the system should take sales tax into account in the prices shown in the booking system results. This option is only available for companies with a US model, that is, with prices excluding VAT.

Customize the accommodation page

  • The property page is your main shop window. Here you can configure:

  • Order of blocks: decide which information goes first (gallery, description, amenities, calendar, etc.).

    • Gallery: four layouts available.

    • Gallery V1: square format; the photo is displayed in the center and the following ones in a smaller size at the bottom.

    • Gallery V2: shows a central photo and the one before and after it; to see more photos you must click on the side arrows.

    • Gallery V3: the same photo in full screen, adjusted to a panoramic format.

    • Gallery V4: a composition of four smaller photos in a grid on the right and one larger photo on the left.

  • Video: videos can be added as a section in the accommodation page (instead of in the photo gallery) and you can choose the order in which it appears. To select this option, check the “Video in section” box and move the box to change the display order on the page. The video will be shown within the accommodation page in a new information block.

  • Social media: enable the option to share on Facebook, Twitter and, on mobile, also on WhatsApp.

  • Availability in calendar: shows the availability of the accommodations in the calendar.

  • Image protection: prevents photos from being downloaded from your Web.

  • Show pre-bookings: shows the available periods, those blocked by bookings with “Pre-booking” status in a different color and those blocked by blocks, bookings with “Confirmed” or “Paid” status as “Not available”.

  • Enable split days: displays split days for check-in/check-out both in the “sidebar” calendar and in the availability calendar on the page.

  • Enable legend: available days, unavailable days and days with bookings in pre-booking status (if you have enabled “Show pre-bookings”) are shown in different colors and an explanatory legend is displayed.

  • Show exact address: shows the exact address of the accommodation.

  • Markers: for maps, choose the type of button from the available designs.

  • Share listing: allows users to share a listing via a link.

Highlight your accommodations on the Web

Do you want to give prominence to certain properties? Enable Featured properties.

Benefits

  • Promote your most profitable accommodations or those with immediate availability.

  • Refresh the homepage dynamically.

  • If you manage several websites, decide what to highlight on each one.

  • Take the traveler directly to the property page with a single click.

Step by step

  1. Go to Web → Web settings → Featured properties.

  2. Click “Highlight accommodations” and enter the name. You can add several at the same time.

  3. You can edit the options of the featured accommodations by clicking on the accommodation name in the featured accommodations list; a window will open with all editable characteristics.

  4. Enter a title and description to capture attention with an attractive message.

  5. Sort the display order using the numbers on the left.

  6. To stop highlighting, uncheck the corresponding option.

  7. You can control the maximum number of accommodations that the widget shows on the Web by setting a limit within the VRMS module.

  8. Check Web → Web settings → General booking system settings for the global limits of Featured properties.

Create custom categories with tags

Tags are internal labels that allow you to group accommodations. Based on them, you can create categories visible on your Web (for example, “Mountain houses”, “Ideal for families”, “Sea views”).

How to do it

  • In the accommodations list, select several and assign a tag to them.

  • If the tag has already been created, the system will indicate it. If the tag is newly created, it will appear in brackets next to the chosen name (“new”).

  • The tag or tags assigned to each accommodation appear on the accommodation page of each accommodation linked to the tag.

  • The tag name is for internal use and will not appear on the Web.

  • Create a category in Web → Categories and decide which tags will make it up.

  • Add an image so that it also appears as a featured widget on your Home. If you do not add a photo in the “Categories” module, the category will only appear as a filter in the booking system menu. If a photo is added, the widget will also appear on the Web, in addition to the filter.

  • If the widget does not appear (or appears without a photo) and you want to enable it, request its activation from our Customer Care team.

Best practices

Avoid empty categories (they will not appear on the Web) and remember that, if you use more than one tag in the category, accommodations must meet all the criteria.
